Confessions during COVID-19 Crisis

Location of confessions – in the belltower located in the interior courtyard area.

As we adjust to the present crisis, we are pleased to still offer the Sacrament of Confession at the Cathedral. Rather than being inside the church confessional, which does not afford proper “social distancing” and air flow, confessions are being heard in the courtyard belltower.

Our times remain the same:

Monday-Friday, 11:30am-12:00pm
Father will have to get ready for the 12:10pm Mass, so please do not expect him to stay after 12:00pm.

Saturday, 3:00pm-4:30pm
Father will need to leave by at least 4:40pm so as to have time to recollect and prepare for the 5:00pm Mass.

SPECIAL ADDITIONAL TIME DURING LENT: On five Mondays of Lent, confessions will also be heard from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the church. The confessor will be Father Jerabek. Download the Lent 2021 special schedules HERE.

  1. Park on the street (pay meters as appropriate) or in the Diocese of Birmingham lot that is at the corner of 3rd Ave N and 22nd St.
  2. Enter the Cathedral campus through the front gate (between the church and the rectory – yellow line in the image above).
  3. Proceed through the courtyard to the interior driveway area.
  4. Form a line in the driveway.

Let us all be sure to take advantage of this important sacrament and always live in God’s grace!
